Places that colour us

If there’s one place that feels like the real Cape coast, it’s Kommetjie.
It’s got this mix of laid-back surf town energy and quiet, everyday magic that sneaks up on you. You’ll drive along Chapman’s Peak, past Hout Bay, and suddenly the world opens up to endless ocean on one side, wild fynbos and mountain light on the other.

The water here is cold. Like, really cold. But it wakes you up in the best way, that kind of invigoration that makes you feel alive. Surfers float out beyond the break, waiting for the next set. The beach stretches for miles, the sand pale and soft underfoot, and the sunsets are magical, pastel, hazy, and somehow grounding.

Kommetjie isn’t about doing much. It’s about being.
Long walks, quiet mornings, coffee at Androcs Kitchen, dogs chasing waves, that salt-sticky feeling on your skin you don’t want to wash off.

It’s the kind of place that slows you down without you even realising.
The kind of place that reminds you what simplicity feels like.

Maybe that’s why it inspired The Kommetjie Edit — colours drawn straight from the water, the sky, and the stillness that lingers long after you’ve left.

Go once. You’ll understand.
